Laser hair removal works by targeting the melanin in hair follicles with controlled wavelengths of light, gradually reducing hair growth over 6-8 sessions. The Diode (LightSheer), Alexandrite, Nd:YAG and Soprano platforms each suit different skin tones. Indian skin generally does best with Diode and Nd:YAG. Sessions are spaced 4-8 weeks apart depending on body area. Permanent reduction (not 100% permanent removal) is the realistic outcome. Patients should avoid waxing/plucking 4 weeks before sessions, and strict sun protection for 2 weeks pre / post.
